A beloved Magic Kingdom classic is getting a major transformation. Earlier this week, Disney shared details about the reimagining of Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress. During the Experiences Showcase, Disney provided even more updates including new voices, updated time periods and a first look at the attraction’s 1980s scene.

Disney Legend Jamie Lee Curtis and Emmy-winning actor Bryan Cranston will provide the new voices for Mom and Dad, while the show’s familiar family, humor and iconic song, “There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow,” remain at the heart of the experience.

The attraction will now follow the family through 1969, 1985, 1999 and a possible future. The first scene will center on the moon landing, while the 1980s scene takes place on Halloween night and puts Sarah in the spotlight. The 1999 finale explores the arrival of the internet and the excitement surrounding the new millennium. The final scene will jump into a futuristic world featuring advanced technology, robots and even space travel.

The reimagining will also open with a new scene featuring an Audio-Animatronic Walt Disney, inspired by his 1964 television special Disneyland Goes to the World’s Fair. Disney says the scene will feature recreated props from the special, creating a direct connection between Walt and the attraction he helped bring to life.

After closing earlier this summer, Carousel of Progress is expected to return in late spring 2027. The update represents the attraction’s biggest transformation in decades while maintaining its central message of family, innovation and optimism about the future.
